Eka to increase paper chemicals prices

Göteborg, December 6, 2006 - Eka Chemicals, an Akzo Nobel company, is to increase prices by 15 percent on all wet-strength additives in Europe.

“The company has undertaken strong efforts to optimize product efficiency and reduce production costs. Despite these actions, measures are now necessary to compensate for the steep rise in raw material prices,” says Lennart Nilsson, Director of Sales and Marketing at Pulp and Paper, Europe.

"Due to continuous increases in the costs of raw materials for the production of wet-strength additives, we now find we have to increase prices in order to compensate."

The new prices will be implemented as of January 1, 2007.
